About the festival

The first Feminist festival

Through the festival, NÈGÈS MAWON seeks to transform art into a language and establish a dialogue with this powerful medium, creating connections between Women’s demands and the creativity of our artists. The festival uses artistic expression as a tool for imagining new horizons and developing new forms of Feminist activism and protest in Haiti, art that champions the rights of Women and Girls.

The festival also creates a space for encounters, discussions, discoveries, knowledge-sharing, creation, and collective work around the themes explored each year through this powerful activist and cultural event.
